I am looking for a measurement for the R/T stripe that shows the distance from the top of the stripe up to the door body line - front and back.  Everything after getting the door piece on will be fairly easy. The engineering drawing is of no help to me.  My brain cannot decipher that drawing.  Help if you can.  Thanks.

Hard to explain, but you want the bottom of the stripe parallel to the mid line, and basically the stripe centered between the mid line and belt line.

IMPORTANT to keep it going level otherwise the fender stripe will be out of whack....

TIP: I figured this out when laying black stripes on a black car....Lay the door/fender stripes on the ground over lapped by 1/2" or so.....then take a long straight edge like a yard stick, and make the center line perfectly straight....then tape the two stripes together so they can't move.

Have a friend help you hold the stripe(s) on the car and tape it exactly where you want it, so the stripe at the very front of the car is centered...
Then I use tape to mark where I want the top edge of the stripes on the door and on the fender, then install separately

Trying to figure it out using measurements will drive you bonkers....You can measure when you lay them out to make sure both sides are the same, but you're already spent way more time thinking about it, than any Chrysler employee ever did back in 71  :haha: :haha:

Thanks for that info.  Looks like it starts upward just after the door latch.  What did you use for lubricant?

I've always just used soapy(couple drops) water, but some stripe manufactures suggest their brand of lubricant, and some say nothing at all....

install the door stripe  first. it will have to be centered to cover the hole in the door handel.[ otherwise it will show paint]  that almost dictates where it "will " have to be. seems like 2 1/4" or so is ball park from the lines. they will be where they will be based on the door handel.
