The real challenge will be mounting the grill without putting any type of tension on it. The Plastex stuff looks great, but cracks again very easily.  :alan2cents:

Alan, I've moved the grille around quite a bit and put tension on the repaired areas without issue.  But granted, I haven't installed it yet and bolted it down.  I'll let you know how that goes.  After all the work and time I've put into this, I really hope you're wrong, but unfortunately I've never know you to be wrong when it comes to restoring these E-bodies.   :(  :tired:

Digging up this thread from last year as I'm thinking about doing similar repairs on my 70 Cuda grill as a winter project.  @usraptor, how did the Plastex hold up for you?  Any issues?  Also, what did you use for paint?

Plastex worked well.  I'm happy with the results.  You just have to take your time, properly prep the crack/area and apply several coats to build up a crack if it's really deep/wide.  Several hundred miles on Cuda now and no new or old cracks.  I bought the paint from 8774PAINT1.com.  Rattle cans but correct color and finish.  If you google 1970 Cuda argent grill paint several other options will also come up, but these guys were reasonable on the price, the color was correct and I liked that it was a rattle can. Good luck.

Thanks for the information  :bradsthumb:

I see that they have several different shades of argent available.  Is this the one you used?  https://8774paint1.com/collections/all-products/products/grille-silver

Also, do you have any tips for removing the grill trim without boogering it up?

I honestly don't remember.  I called them and told them what I had and they told me the correct shade.  I also ordered several other cans for the wheels, etc.
Re removing the trim, no tips, just take your time and go slow.  It's almost impossible to get the red strip clips off without breaking them.  I just ordered new ones.
