70 Cuda trunk torsion rods

I  put my trunk lid on yesterday and when I closed the trunk the hinges came off the sliders.I mocked up the trunk lid before I removed it for paint and it worked fine.I might have the rods adjustment to tight.I  am installing a wing so what adjustment slot should I use.Right now they are on the second one facing the front of the car.I put some grease on the sliders could that of made the hinges slide off. Thanks
