Windshield Washer Nozzle

The attached picture shows the windshield washer nozzles that mount on the hood of my original 1970 AAR Cuda.  Anybody know the correct finish for these nozzles?  There are some signs of a black finish of some kind, I assume to have the nozzles blend into the black hood.  I also assume they were not installed and painted when the hood was painted.  Are they painted black, black oxide, black zinc, other???  What have others done to make them look good?

I have the black oxide mix from Caswell.  I would think that would look pretty nice.  Perhaps some RPM or satin clear over the top to protect it.
