Over the years there have been some questions about black engine bays and Ziebart treatments.  I came across this article about a 1972 Duster with 20,000 miles and the photos show the black out engine bay and yellow Ziebart plugs in the door and door jam.  It looked like a good example to document and pass on.  I was hoping the dealer sales sheet had the Ziebart adder, but no luck.  https://www.autoevolution.com/news/1972-plymouth-duster-emerges-from-grandma-s-garage-after-35-years-low-mile-surprise-226364.html?utm_source=ae_self&utm_medium=ae_moreon&utm_campaign=ae_moreon_news_static

I don't believe the underhood blackout is factory and a easy way to find out is take some thinners on a rag and rub a spot in it. The Ziebart plugs look oversprayed to me. Never say never with a Mopar, but it's damn unlikely. Just my  :alan2cents:

Just wondered where you were going with this.
It is stipulated that Ziebert Treatment was a rust treatment as rust especially in snowy areas was a big problem.
It was done at the dealer level, never from the factory. What else.

Ziebart was a common rustproofing treatment that was done by the dealer or an independent shop, the engine bay is body color from the factory - no revelations there.
