How much paint you need depends on the undercoat, colour of the paint and how much you're painting. Most of us at least paint under the hood (inners, firewall, rad support and bottom side of the hood), door jams, inside of doors, inner fenderwells, bottomside of trunk lid as well as trunk floor and inside of quarters. That's a buttload of paint and you haven't started on the exterior.

I paid 8k for a shop to spray my 70 Cuda.I supplied the paint.B5 blue at finish masters was 285 a gallon. He used 2 gallons of paint and a little less then 2 gallon of clear. The only issue I had was the clear the painter likes was 400 a gallon. The agreement I had with him is he does the final sanding and will fix any small issues with the bodywork.I am in the Bayarea. He painted the car apart for full coverage and he and his son and I hung the panels. That was part of the agreement. He has a full body shop and does classic cars on the side.He had the car for only 3 months.

@EV2RTSE  Your lucky if you can even find someone willing to do that kind of work these days. This is what I'm building now. Got to keep it Mopar, even the color.😊

My painter cared more about the clear than the base. He insisted on using a high end PPG clear. I believe it was about $450 a gallon in 2016.
