Hello All,
Any recommendations for the gray jack paint? Need to spray the base, jack mechanism, and hook. I was about to pull the trigger on Rust-oleum Dove Gray  #4CH76 from Grainger but wanted to confirm. I've gotten two grays already but they are darker so I'm trying to keep from wasting anymore cash.

Thanks, Chet

I'll try to find the photo, but I had a bunch of originals laid out on a table and the shade of grey varied from jack to jack.  So I think it wasn't a perfect match even from the factory.  Here's a photo of an original AAR that I looked at last year.  Hope that helps.

Yeah I saw that in your recent post about that car this morning and it reminded me that I need to get mine finished. I left the hook untouched until I find the correct color in order to match it best. If nothing comes up, I'll get black and white aerosol, decompress the cans, and mix until it's close then spray with touch up gun.

Thanks

Frank Badalson sells his version of the gray jack paint in a pint can. It's PPG Acrylic Enamel (DAR) and sprays out very well. I painted mine using his paint and it looks very close to the AAR jack from Cody's picture.

I use grey primer with a satin clear coat.

I cleaned up resprayed my factory Jack w/ Rust-Oleum high performance, gloss Machine Gray. Turned out very nice with that assy. line just placed look. Just a spray bomb but good quality results.  Thanks,   Al

Man! That turned out great there CudaRay. The Rust Oleum machine gray and your Dove Gray I swear, look about the same, not far off shade wise. When I matched the shade with original color on the Jack, I put one painted piece against original shade seem to match pretty well.   Thanks,   Al

Thanks, Probably the same color just different names. Pretty hard to see exactly in a computer because of everyone displaying color somewhat different.

Looks really good. Sheen appears to be spot on from all my research and my jack.

I looked at what primer I had and the gray epoxy on hand was to dark so I l grabbed my hook and went to Walmart and picked up a can of Krylon Classic Gray and it's really close. To dampen the gloss I sprayed the 2nd coat about three feet away and sprayed it dry. Plan to do the base and hook tomorrow.

Like the way it turned out.

Thanks for the help.

That looks good! You could also try Krylon Stone Gray Gloss #1605.
