I'm just taking a shot in the dark and asking if there are any methods to touching up the paint on a Elastomeric Front Bumper.

I noticed this scrape on my car's front bumper on the weekend when I gave the car a cleaning.   It was the 1st time that I gave the car a wash after getting it back from the shop that removed & replaced my engine after a rebuild.   I'm hopeful that I can touch it up with some paint, but wondered if using some kind of formula to smooth it out.    Maybe a very fine grit sandpaper or acid ( just kidding ) or should I just get the bumper repainted as the only way to make it look like glass again.

It's not too deep of a cut but it's roughed up as you can see by the pictures.
Thanks for any help or idea's you may have.

I don't like being the barer of bad news, It looks like it will need to come off and be repaired and refinished.  :('

All fixed!   Well, sort of?
I had a friend do a small repair on the bumper and from a distance it looks good.
I'll get the bumper re-painted maybe this winter.

Looks good, can't even see where it was.
What did he do to fix it?

blown motor

That looks great. No need for a repaint unless the picture is hiding something.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

He put on some kind of resin to smooth it out and then used some paint from a spray can.
It was brushed on and is visible when looking directly at it.  Most people will not notice it unless you point it out to them.  The colour is a good match.

Still have not driven the car much this year after the engine rebuild.  I had the transmission serviced to seal all the leaks and now my power steering pump stopped working.   I'm hopeful it can be rebuilt, but if not I'll be looking for a another one if I can find one.  I can still drive it but I need the strength of "THOR" to turn the wheel.
