'Cuda script on fenders?

Here is a question.  I am putting back together a LONG term restoration project and while looking through my parts book I found a name plate position I was not aware of that the book says goes on the fenders.  By the book it is a 'Cuda script that is the same part number as the one on the tail panel.  I have never seen that on an E-body 'Cuda fender.  Anyone have some information on this?

Well that's interesting too.  Does not look like it is listed as an add-on option either.  Nothing in the '72 book under "options" either. :dunno:

The cuda fender emblem was in 74 literature too.  https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1974/74_Barracuda_0004.jpg

There sure looks like a typo to me.

The BH cars, like the 1970 Barracuda 318, had a "Barracuda" script on the fenders, but not the doors.
The BS cars, like the 1970 Cuda 440, had a "Cuda" script on the inner door panels, but not the fender.

Am I right?  I think the image has these backwards, kinda.

I checked the 74 parts catalog (#16) and it supports the sales literature.  I agree, it's strange.

Mrbill426

Sure is.  Now that I see them listed for '72 & '74, I wonder if anyone has seen an E-body with a factory mounted badge on the fender, other than the right side pentastar.

I believe the parts books were designed & printed ahead of production so the decision to make changes could still be done .
I have never seen a Cuda emblem on the fender

That never happened in my opinion, Neil has it right...pre-production info :alan2cents:

Thanks everyone for your great input

So, let's see some pictures of actual survivor 72-74 barracuda's and cuda's.
That would be the definitive answer.   Actual survivors.

Something like this?

cuda hunter

WEll, yes, but that is a 70 gran coupe.
The OP has diagrams of 72 so I am assuming he/she is asking about the 72-74 models.
Are they different from 70-71?

@cuda hunter I too would like to see some survivor photos.  I saw a photo of one posted on a Facebook forum but the poster was not the original owner so did not know.  Yes, mine is a '72.
