So, I'm replacing the doors on my 73 Challenger with doors from a 70. I noticed the mirrors are 2 inches farther back on the 70. Is this normal? Are there any other differences I should know about?

I know the mirror base is smaller on the 70

750-h2

Also the door glass weather stripping mounts differently on a 1970 door. Snaps on in 1970 and screws on all other years.

Are you certain these are factory installed mirror locations ? I've never heard of any differences before, but I don't have a lot of experience with 72-74 E Bodies

I know the 73 doors are original. The others look original too. I am down to bare metal. The 73 is 15" to first screw hole. The 70 is almost 17".

Well that is odd...should be 17".....Are there nutserts in the 73 door ? Are we talking both doors LH & RH ?

Yeah, the 73 has the nutserts. And both doors are the same way.

My 74 is about 15 1/2" from the front edge of the door to the first screw, just measured.
