I'm putting my car back together after painting and I thought my memory would be better than it is. I put the fenders on hastily and forgot to put on the fender brace supports and the dust shields. I was too excited to see what it would look like, lol. Anyways, I can't seem to find the pic, or I don't have one, of how the fender brace is bolted up. I can't even google one. The body bolts seems easy, but how it connects to the fender seems odd. I assume the square hole aligns with the fender bolt, but what does the nut look like? That is a pretty big square hole. Anyone got a pic of it?

Thanks
Tom

Those go just above the upper door hinge to support the rear of the fender.. The big square hole goes to the fender, the slot bolts to the body..

I think what you are referring to is were a weld nut would go to.If you have a hole there than that is missing.on the bracket the big square hole go's up to the bottom of the inner bracing on the top of the fender. the round hole go's to the cowl.  :alan2cents:

Does it just rest on the fender or is does it get bolted down with a nut? Going from memory, but I believe there is a threaded bolt on the fender that goes through the square hole. Not sure if it gets bolted or not, and what that nut would look like.

It gets a bolt, the nut it threads in to is built into the bracing of the fender.

After re-reading your post I see your actually asking about the hardware... It should have a stud screwed into the fender & a nut with a large captive washer attaches it to the bracket... Often there are shims to set the fender height...

Awesome guys. I also looked at the bolt kits for the fender and it looks like it includes 6 studs and 6 nuts. I think 4 are for the fender to front valance and I assume the other two would be for the fender brace. So it should be the same.

Should be a captured washer on a nut....

Yep and the hole is the size it is to allow adjustment of the fender/door gap. As mentioned, there should be a stud in the fender that's long enough that you can use shims (if required) to obtain your vertical body line adjustment and the large washered nut snugs the whole shebang down once you've got your fit.

Some additional pictures if needed . . . first two are of the bracket mounted to the car and if you look at the back of the fender in the third picture, you can see the threaded stud sticking out.
