Transporting a Car on a Rotisserie

So I have a metal fabricator who is going to fix up the sheet metal on my project - pretty minor stuff but he is a magician so quality should be top notch.  Going to patch my decent original front fenders with donor metal from other original fenders I have collected, replace the trunk floor center section w/ AMD, repair the passenger side shock tower that has separated at 2 spot welds, and then mount all of the front clip sheet metal and align everything so i have a solid base to start with.

Before I start the tear down:

I am planning on putting the car on a rotisserie once I have it disassembled - is there any structural issue transporting the car while on the rotisserie or with the trunk pan removed?

Gravity and inertia are potential issues. Are the doors staying on the car when transported? You could go to your favourite steel merchant and buy some 3/4'angle iron. I'd put one piece across the rear wheel wells and tag a couple of stringers down to the frame rails if the floor's gone. running one across on the bias to each other should really do the trick. Go slow and try to avoid rough roads would also pay dividends. Happy Motoring  :bigthumb:

@jimynick thanks for the advice!! I am only going about 15 miles but I think I will take the warning and leave it on the suspension for now.

Transporting should be fine, but I would not suggest doing body work (aligning metal panels) on it.  Always best to do that on a frame that supports the rails.  If you do it on a rotisserie the second you take it off the gabs can flex and be way off.  Nicest gaps will come from doing bodywork on a frame jig.  Doesn't have to be anything special.  Just a way to support the car at of near the same points the drive line holds it.  Couple hours with some bar stock and you can have yourself a frame jig.

Thanks everyone - you all saved me a lot of headache!  The car is still rolling, so i can leave it as is, disassemble the gas tank, bumpers, engine, exhaust etc etc and put it on the rotisserie later.....

I moved my road runner bolted to a homemade rotisserie three times when moving and it's just fine as long as it's a complete unibody and not cut apart.
