Need a good high build urethane or maybe Polyester (sprayable filler) for a decent price.  I use PPG products but looking for something a little less expensive. I looked at SPI but they don`t have a very good description.

I'm a fan of OMNI primers. Give them a look, they are part of the PPG brand at lower cost. Quality is good. OMNI MP282 is basically a spray-able filler if you don't reduce it. Omni probably has more specialized sprayable fillers.

I'm using the Evercoat Super build 4, which is a polyester primer and I think it was somewhere around $125/gallon including additive. That's $125 Canadian, so about $39.95 US, eh? ;)  It applies well and sands out well and is direct to metal and has further passed the 500hr salt test.

Over $100 a gallon with catalyst was the cheapest I saw it.

Couple 2-3 rounds of Evercoat G2, one round of Evercoat Slick Sand and the last we wet sand with PPG 2k then ready for paint.  There's other ways to get there, that's just what we do.

Why both G2 and slick sand, both are polyester primers?

Ever try the U-POL 20 2k? It's British and I'm using it on my Challenger over the Evercoat. It seems to have great adhesion, build, and sands out nicely. Relatively easy on paper, too.

Cheep primer will gum up sand paper, So what you save in price of primer, will cost you in sand paper. Even wet sanding dose not help.  :alan2cents:

I use the Evercoat G2 as well. Good stuff with a excellent price. I final prime with Akzo BT epoxy primer because it's hard as a rock when it dries like a shell. The G2 is great but I would definitely recommend a quality primer on top of it.   IMO
