Hood Hinges

What color are the hood hinge springs painted? The hinges themselves are body color, correct? Purchased new hood hinges with springs and asking about the color. I'm even contemplating just leaving the hinges and springs black. Thanks

I just painted our hood springs.  We have them off the car, and in order to completely paint them, I stretched them between 2 barn posts using a chain and a ratchet strap.  If they were painted while compressed, then unpainted metal would show up when they were stretched on the car.
