Rear Crossmember extension fitment

I'm having length issues with rear crossmember extensions between the crossmember and trunk extension. it doesn't seem like these extensions should weld up to the frame. However if you were to weld them up to the end of the crossmember it's way to long.  Any pictures would help

They butt up against the trunk extensions and I just waited until I had the trunk floor and extensions in and then fitted them against the extension and welded them onto the rear crossmember where they landed.

If I am understanding the part in question, I think this picture may help. Look on right side of crossmember between crossmember and trunk extension.
