Hello everyone, I have a 70 Challenger R/T that needs stud-mounted R/T fender badges.  What has your experience been with originals and reproductions?  I've got a pair from Year One that looks to be "right" in that it appears that it was intended to be contoured to the lower part of the fender as the body drops off from the style line.  Year One part number VC5223I.  In other words, the top is thinner than the bottom with what I assume was an attempt to keep the emblem plumb.  It is a great idea and I love the "chunky" look but the are a long way from fitting the body line.  They actually appear to be convex when they should be concave.  On top of that, the nuts that were packaged with them were too tight for the studs and I broke one stud off of each emblem.  When I ordered another pair I received what I suspect is a grill emblem.  The emblem is thin and flat.  Year One part number VC5231.  What to do??  I imagine the flat emblems with lay tight against the fender and most won't bat an eye but I really like the chunky version but can't imagine how much shaping it will take to make them fit properly. :help:

Wow, I've never seen them "thick" like that on a fender, I assumed they were all just flat. Thank you, I've learned something new today  :worship:

the 1970 Challenger R/T fender emblem should be "FLAT" - the other is from a '69 Charger tail panel or some other application

I think I've got a full set (grill, fenders, trunk) from a 70 Challenger, will have to check them but positive the fender emblems are flat.

Thank you for the input guys!  Mystery solved.  The "chunky" versions apparently are for a 69 Charger tail panel.  I can rest  at ease now knowing the flat ones I just received are correct.  After handling the Charger version, I do wish the designers used  that thick style badge for the fenders.  It would have added some substance and depth the the R/T callouts and could have done it without protruding past the horizontal style line.  Maybe I've just been wishing and willing the wrong ones to fit now for too long... :drunk:
