Hi Guys

This is a tag that is on a Cuda that is for sale on E-bay.
Thoughts?

I have my opinion and have discussed with a few friends, but would like to hear others.

Thanks
Matt

Looks like a legit skinny font LA tag to me.
What concerns do you have?

Filthy Filbert

early build.   9,976th car off the line that model year.... so what's that? like the first month of production?

I'm sure the actual build date is on there but I don't speak "fender tag"   Never bothered to learn all the codes and whatnot, since my car's tag is MIA

It can't be fake, it doesn't have a shaker hood  :haha: :haha: :haha:

First off I am no expert.
I have owned LA built cars with that style font so that doesn't bother me.
The spacing seems to off on some of the codes. I showed it to a friend who I would consider very knowledgeable on
70-71 E-bodies and he told me there was a code missing that should have been on the tag.

A04 on tnis tag is the SPD of October 4th.
Not to be confused with the A04 option package which would be in a different location on the tag.

the missing code is "M31" belt mouldings - they are STANDARD on a '70 'cuda (BS) - there are many late-September / early-October Hamtramck & LA 'cudas that are missing them: on the car VS on the broadcast sheet VS on the fender tag & any combination of that - it is believed to be a glitch related to the use of 1969 broadcast sheet forms in that time frame

I have no issues with the tag & believe it is LEGIT!

it is the 9,976th ASSIGNED VIN - cars are NOT built in VIN order

The vin number and options seem very familiar.
Seems this real car has surfaced before.  Looking but don't seem to have record of vin number

I have one of those 70 BS Cudas built in September 69 that has no belt moldings.  Not on the car, not on the fender tag, and not on the broadcast sheet.  Feeling pretty confident that it's not a fake though.  I don't think anyone would have gone through the effort to fake that documentation for the $950 that I paid for it in 1988.  :haha:

Actually, mine says "F Series 1970"

@6bblgt You should already have a copy of my broadcast sheet and fender tag in your files.  I sent them to you when we traded some emails back in July 2020.  That's when you first pointed out to me that both my broadcast sheet and fender tag do not have M31 on them.

got it!     your car's sheet is the last day I show with 1970 sheets before the WRONG/ERROR/MISTAKE/  :dunno:  inserted 1969 sheets show up  :drunk:  for about 4 weeks

Monday 10/6/69 - A05 is the latest SPD I have a fender tag example w/o M31 on a 'cuda at Hamtramck "0B"
Friday 10/10/69 - A10 is the latest SPD I have a fender tag example w/o M31 on a 'cuda at Los Angeles "0E"

'cudas WITH M31 show up during the same time frame
