I looked this clone over on Saturday (15JAN). This car's restoration is top-notch. The interior and exterior look as good as the row of real R- and V-Code Cudas. The engine compartment needs a bit of work though. It has a lot of options added that are extremely desirable like the Elastomeric front and rear bumpers, Rimblow steering wheel, Dana 60, etc. I can tell you that seeing the Rimblow turned to the right and the tires pointing straight ahead grated on my nerves. LOL.

I agree that the new owner could flip this car for a profit and time will only see this type of "drivable" car go up, up, up.

EDIT: Also, I looked at the fender tag and this 318 Barracuda had the A21 option (front Elastomeric bumper) from the factory.
Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of this car or the fender tag.  It would have been good for this discussion to do so. :(

Where did you see the fender tag?.......it was gone when I looked at the car Friday

I looked at my other pictures and realized that you are correct so I edited the earlier post. The fender tag was missing or stashed away for safekeeping on the red clone convertible. The real limelight V-Code Cuda convertible (Lot F138) had the A21 code on its fendertag.

The FJ5 V code convertible supposedly has a fake tag (according to Barry).

The tag does have some evidence of being a repro. I would like to see the Dave Wise report for the car along with all the other documentation, if any.

I would say the Dave Wise report would trump anything BW has to say, although he may be in agreement with BW about the reproduction tag, but it could have been made from other documentation  :alan2cents:

the tag has a number of issues - BS27V0B133363

it has been discussed here in the past few years -
at Mecum Harrisburg 2019 as part of the Todd Werner collection ($211K), ** using same pictures & description **
it was on eBay out of Ohio and then at Mecum KISSIMMEE 2021 Marshal Goldman collection ($238K)  ** using same pictures & description **
& now January 2022 as part of the Shelton collection ($247K)  ** using same description **

AFAIK there is NO proof offered as to the configuration of the car that isn't covered by the VIN = 1970 'cuda convertible 440+6

IIRC in one of the other threads, it was rumored to be a low OPTION EF8 car restored in CANADA

The reproduction tag with the added options explains the lower sale price, but at least the car is still being bought and enjoyed. :bigthumb:

Lower sales price? $247K>238K>211K. Same pictures used when the car gets listed about every year and the alleged sale price shows higher sale each time.
To me it looks like typical auction games going on.  Maybe one of the supposedly several hundred cars that Mecum has stashed away and pulls a number out of the stash to run at each of his auctions.
A lot of cars show sold at Mecum auctions that show up at subsequent auctions, sometimes off and on over a number of years.
I take their Sold data with a grain of salt because it's very suspicious.

I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for closer to their asking price then to Mecum's selling price  :alan2cents:
