FWIW I'm not talking about the shifter, the hump in the floor looks much wider than a normal 4spd hump...

I know you're talking about the hump, it pretty much touches the seat.

Could be. I'm not quite seeing it. Maybe because the shifter just looks funny. He claims it's original carpet to the car but that seems unlikely since it had an automatic. Unless auto carpet can be restretched to cover the four speed hump.

Obviously an inspection would be needed but that goes for any car.

Maybe it's not the most incredible deal of our lifetimes but last time I checked, these cars weren't falling out of trees anymore. Like a 71 Cuda, they are all restored. You either buy perfect restorations for big dollars or you wait until you come across a barn find hunk of crap that's rusted out and missing half of its parts. Cars in between like this really are unusual finds. Show me a comparable real TA for low 40s. If it's out there, it would take some hunting.

I know lots of members look for cars they can enjoy or restore on their own. Not everyone can go out and plunk down huge money for a perfect restoration. And many of those same people who are looking don't have the skills to do major repairs or the parts stash on hand to replace missing hard to find items on horrible barn find projects. That's why I post cars like these. For those folks who want into the hobby without mortgaging the house and can drive it while they do weekend repairs.

If I seem sensitive to this, I certainly don't mean to be. I have my cars and have nothing to gain or lose here. I just put them out there and try to remain constructive in my criticism so that less knowledgeable members who might be interested don't think it's a Frankenstein car they should avoid at all costs. Truth is, until a proper in person inspection is made, who can really say? It's all speculation based on a handful of grainy pictures.

I personally really like cars like this one. It's pretty clean and nice and fairly correct. It's worn just enough that you can drive it alot and just wash it. I don't like cars that are beat to death and have Ricky racer parts on them, this one appears to be quite nice. The 4 speed conversion is something that makes it more appealing to me as well and makes it valued less than a real 4 speed car so that's a double win.

I bet it would. I'd throw in a new dash, seats, carpet, fix that shifter and call it a day.

Thanks for posting up cars for sale. These mid cars are relatively difficult to find.

I think it is a good price from a decent car. The AAR I looked at needed a complete resto-motor was out body in somewhat primer and he wants $ 30,000.00

Cars in that shape are hard to price, if you follow Nick's Garage on YouTube, you might have seen his white T/A, mechanically in good shape, non-original TA motor and trans. It's actually in better shape body-wise than it looks, as it was restored about 10-years ago, then stored in bad conditions, so there was damage from surrounding objects and surface rust, but the flooors and everything underneath is very good... It was recently purchased by a friend for approx. 40K US. There are not many T/A's or AAR's around here, so this was his chance to get one without paying 100K CDN (75K US) for a restored car, and fix it up as he drives it...
