Was the big block, assm line original 4845s Carter 3/8 barb inlet & 5/16 female inverted flare outlet or was it 3/8 barb inlet & 1/8 female pipe outlet where you would use a 1/8 mp to 5/16 female inverted flare adapter? Thank you, Joe

@1970 cuda Joe,

I'll try and get the measurements from the one I have this week.  Please note the one I have is from an early 1970 440-6 E-Body with 5/16 fuel line.  I don't know if this is relevant to the size of the input/output fittings but at some point the 5/16 fuel line was changed to 3/8.

I took some pics of a 440-6 on a stand at Carlisle some years ago that was restored by Frank Badalson, hope this helps.

It looks like it has an adapter fitting. It's what I was suspecting. thank you, Joe

Sorry Joe, I misunderstood the question.  Was that all you needed?  I can get a closer pic if you need.

I'm thinking of trying to find an assm line original to have rebuilt so I needed to educate myself on what to look for other than the part number. I don't need to spend a bunch of money buying/rebuilding the wrong pump. Thank you, Joe

Yes even the original fuel pumps used the adapter just like the current ones you can buy.

I had a hard time finding an original made in U.S.A pump.

And the problem with these pumps is they are crimped together unlike the fuel pumps for the hemi. I saw an old post somewhere of a guy that use to restore the crimp style fuel pumps but I never reached out to him or even know if he's still doing it.

I've not sent my pump out yet but plan to use:

Fred has done several for me. Quality work. He does the AC & the Carter pumps. He does them in batches so sometimes I've had to wait up to 6 months. He uses all the new style pieces to use the newer gasolines

Thanks everybody for the information........Joe

I forgot to mention Fred also can do just rebuild & not restore if you have a survivor vehicle
