You can always put up a nice looking "No Trespassing" sign in your yard near the front of your driveway... or worse:

Slotts

I like the simple sign in the car window reading:
This car is not for sale.
Please don't ask.

The issue is the line of site from the road. You have no idea who could be the serious buyer, tire kicker or "scout" just eyeing up the premises and now each type of person knows where you live. I think the trick is to get the car(s) moved behind your house, if possible. Remove anything to do with Mopar parts, signs or sticker labels visible from the yard or garage, too.

I hear what you are saying and for the most part I try to be polite and answer any questions. Just lately it seems there are guys out there thinking they will drive around and get a project for cheap. Either to play with or my guess is to try and flip quick. This does nothing for me as it's not something I support (flipping). The other annoying aspect is they keep asking the same question and it's getting annoying.

The other thing is that my neighborhood is setup such that you have to purposely drive well into it to get to my place and I know you don't belong. This makes me wonder who is the scout as mentioned before.

I'm starting to think out of sight out of mind is probably the best policy. Hence exactly why Cody build his Castle.

I'm that guy knocking on your door.  But with a bank account with cash in it.  I try not to waste guys time.

I've got like a dozen cars visible from the road and get people stop and talk all the time.  If i'm outside for 5 minutes, someone's gonna stop.  It's just part of the car game.

There are some nice folks and some mean folks.  I've been escorted off properties as well as been given a tour of old cars that I couldn't see from the road.  I never know what i'm gonna get when I stop and ask.

Matter of fact I got asked about selling my 69 Grand Prix tonight.  Gave em a price and roached the tires.    I work 10-12 hour days and it's hard to offer up time to talk.   Sometimes I just give them a card and tell them to email me or text me.  Works pretty good to get out of a long conversation.  And weeds out the jokers.

Just try to be nice cause some of us are not thieves or stupid or broke and truly want to buy your stuff.

I thought of a sign that asks them to leave their name and number. Then states I will put it on the list behind the other 200 names already ahead of them.

I am probably going to take a beating for my take on this thread, :deadhorse but here goes. I love it when somebody takes and interest in my car. I worked my ass off on it for about 2 years to get it to look like this. I feel like maybe I have gotten a little piece of a great era back on the road again for myself and others to enjoy. I just can't imagine that you all have these beautiful cars and only want other "beautiful car" owners to see and appreciate them. This is a hobby for most of us and for the hobby to continue the exposure needs to expand to those who are "bugging" us.......the fortunate ones that own these beauties. Sure their are also a bunch of people that are out there trolling around looking for a deal, but hey, weren't most of us there ourselves at one point??? I know we can't all have our A+ personality 24-7 but it sure is fun when I see a nice car and the owner nearby to strike up a short conversation. Like someone said earlier, the fact that somebody cares about your car is a compliment. :alan2cents:
Don't kick me off the forum now ........please, Mike

One of my Challengers is burnt orange and another is brown.  No one ever asks me about buying my cars.
Yet they still have won a ton of trophies and plaques.
So just get a brown or maybe metallic green car, you can get awards and accolades, but you'll probably never have anybody bugging you again about buying it!

Yep, X2  It's the old- is the glass half full or half empty thing. I wouldn't leave my car on the street and bugger off for a hour, but I sure do leave it on the street sometimes. Most of us are pretty good at reading people and if the guy or gal shows interest and/or some knowledge, I'll try to be civil and see where it goes. I also live in an area that's not notorious for crime and try to be sensible with the car as well. Maybe I'll get bit in the a$$ someday, but I'm not going to hide it or myself until that day either. And, as you said, that'ss just my  :alan2cents: as well.

This is a interesting topic, Just this morning I was going to work and seen a yard sale sign, went to check it out and these mopars were sitting with a foot of pine needles on them( Not part of the yard sale). I hate to stop and ask questions just because of what is brought up on this thread. So I have pictures of my car on my phone so I may stop and share my photos and inquire about the cars, well one of them. Anyone who loves a Mopar and  or owns one, I dont think they would mind taking time to talk  about them. BUT if it is a everyday thing I could understand how that could get old fast. My neighbors never come over to check mine project, I think they are afraid I will put them to work

I've been robbed more than once of Mopar parts. Last guy cut a hole in the garage wall. He was caught . Said he found it on Google Earth. You can't be too careful. The thieves ruin the fun.

That is unbelievable!  I hate a thief . . . when caught, just cut off a hand.  Bet they won't do it again!
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

I was speaking of project cars under covers. I have no problem speaking to someone who has a real interest in muscle cars and I might even entertain selling one if I knew the young person I was selling the car to was going to restore it and enjoy it long term.

Instead what I get is folks who show up, ask me 100 times if I will sell the project to them for cheap, and obviously they just want to flip it and make a quick buck. The last guy kept telling me how he just sold his 67. Now when I take my rides to local events I gladly talk with anyone who wants to learn more about them. But even at car shows you have wackjobs who run over and try to take pictures of your vin plate.

So in a nutshell if these guys actually had a love for muscle cars like I do then I would have never written this thread.
