They were developing a whole line of turbine vehicles up to Semi tractors the article I read was that Rockefellers bought out the whole program & forced Chrysler to cease& desist to maintain dependence on oil .

LOL   That's silly...!!!!!!  Rockefellers should have encouraged Chrysler to make them as they got WORSE fuel economy than a standard V8 of same HP...

What actually killed the Turbine Engine Program was the federal government as a condition to bail out the near bankrupt Chrysler corp.   Congress said you can not afford to continue this experiment with no return on investment !!   So drop it or no bail-out.   That was 45 years ago...during that amount of time the Auto industry has tried Wankel Engines, Hybrids, Battery, Diesel, turbo charging and every conceivable method to produce more HP at a cheaper price and more fuel efficiency.   IF it were possible for a turbine engine to do that...they would have !!   Its biggest problem is cost to build (turbine blades spinning at over 200,000 RPM and exposed to direct heat have to be precision made and are expensive, and while fuel efficient on the highway, consume a MUCH higher amount of fuel idling at a red light than a small V8 or Turbocharged 4 cylinder..   Thus worse fuel economy in most cases !!  Now maybe, just maybe a turbine engine would be a great choice in a Chevy Volt style of electric vehicle...   Electric motors powered by battery that are kept charged by a turbine engine????

Me, i cant wait for the 2024 BEV Muscle car, whether it be a Charger, Challenger, or Cuda doesnt matter...tho i would love to see the 68 Charger body all over again !!!

I've had the luck to play with a few Turbine cars through the year, including two that run.

Here's a quick video from the one that is usually at the Gilmore, which is only on load, was taken back to the warehouse.

Same car at MCACN 2019 with the only factory display engine, fresh from restoration.
