I was talking to somebody about having a 440, 4 speed with 3.55 gears but I don't know what 1st gear is. I know the trans isn't from the car it's in. I know that combo works good for driving around. Is there a way to determine what 1st gear ratio is? Thank you, Joe

I'm pretty sure this change over came from Brewer's....Joe

Interesting

My 440 and 18 spline 4-speed trans supposedly came out of a wrecked 440-6 '70 challenger. I bought them around 1980.

I've never checked to see if the motor and trans match each other. It's on the list.

How would I tell what I have short of opening it up or counting turns?

I wonder if Brewer's puts serial numbers on their rebuilt units. I'll have to call them in the morning......Joe

avatar_MoparLeo @MoparLeo Ok, so if I'm understanding this correctly, The VIN on the transmission is RM23H9A & the guy I bought the cuda from said the trans is 23 spline, then this trans would be from a 1969. If it hasn't been modified from Brewer's, it should be 2.66 first gear....correct? Thank you, Joe
