when comparing a AAR 'cuda (body only) to any other 70-74 barracuda/'cuda
other then tail panel, marker light style, and hood is there any other MAJOR body panel differences?

another words could any 70-74 barracuda/cuda shell received new front fenders ,rear quarters and tail panel all with the '70 version, and look the part?
would their be any other major difference. (major body parts only)

I cannot think of any major differences other than the lack of exhaust hangers in the trunk floor pan on AAR cars

HUSTLESTUFF

The antenna hole in the rear quarter and lack of one in fender would be one difference.

A body is a body... The hood, rear mount antenna, side exhaust & trunk lid with spoiler cutouts... Obviously side markers need to be 70-71 style.... As long as you aren't looking at numbers a fairly convincing clone wouldn't be hard to create..... A 70 body would be the best starting point but few would notice the minor 70 only stuff...

Aren't 1970 inner fenders different than 71-74?

anlauto

If you want to talk sheet metal differences between 1970 and all other years....we would be here quite some time, the list is pretty long. 1970 had a lot of unique one year only stampings . Sometimes makes it easy to spot a rebody. :alan2cents:

And aren't there all kinds of difference's between 70 and 71-74 like mounting tabs and mounting holes throughout the body.
Things were changed a good bit 71-72 in the automotive world.

Basically the car is the exact same.  But difference's in mount on products between years would be the main difference's.

It's not just plug and play to change to an aar though.   There are lots of little things that have to be changed.
Research threads where people ask what it takes to change cars to a 71.

Sorry they are all cuda challenger threads, but we have not had time on this forum to have enough people to ask these questions here.

that's what I kind of thought, I've been toying with the idea to put together a everyday driver, as I have so many left over parts for this build and have learned so much about these Ebodies that I feel could piece one together easily now.
I will not care if anything was original etc.
I already have a "10 year" concours restoration project.
this one however would just be a body, engine, tranny a few gauges and a driver seat. don't care about interior or all the details but have always liked the look of a AAR.
I was just thinking of building for lack of better term a "beater" car.
wont be original , and don't care.
I wouldn't try to claim or sell as such, but simply wanted to know if a 1970, 72-73 or 74 body would work as a base to put one together.
have done around 100 full restorations on classic cars/trucks and all have been "prefect" built to this point, years spent on such vehicles. I would really like one to just get in and drive.

just having a hard time tracking down a 1970 shell, seem to find a lot more 73 and 74's

Beaters are the way to go.  so what if you get a door ding.  who cares if someone breaks in, leave it unlocked.  What are they gonna steal?
Go for it !!!  after 100 perfect cars, you really need a beater.
