Since I have never seen this before, is it just an AAR/ TA thing? what does the number designate, just a part number?

72 Challenger, No this is not just a T/A's or AAR's tag. It's on all steering boxes.  I have this tag on a few other steering boxes now that I thing about it. Thanks to Alan for reminding me of it. It is a date code  79 date of 1970.

I have never seen one on a vehicle but I have never looked either. I will make sure to scrutinize steering boxes more.
