Good morning,    Some years ago, I remember there being a such thing as the Chrysler Archives. In the earlier years, record keeping and documentation was not one of the stronger points of the industry. We had to pay for this service but it was quite a tool. My question is whether it still exists and did it continue on into the 70's ?  The sheer number of cars to keep track of would be daunting all by itself.

The info we would be interested in for E-Bodies is not available.  But I heard @cudaized  has been working on getting more documents and info.  It might be a bit of time, but I think a more info will be coming out to the public over the next few years.   :fingerscrossed:

So, the information is sitting in someones storage somewhere.  And Ola happens to know who has it.

Why wouldn't the person who has that info just fork it over for some cash? What purpose could be served by keeping and hiding that information?

I'm with you Jason, but in this case the info simply doesn't seem to exist anymore.

We're all familiar with the notion that the historical records for the time period that the E-bodies were built were allegedly consumed in a fire that swept through the records department in the mid-70's. Remember this C-C dot com forum thread from a few years ago on the subject?  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=107399.0

Not a lot of info exists on the actual fire. Maybe it wasn't considered "news worthy" at the time? Maybe there wasn't a fire at all, but instead a "fire sale" with the records simply being thrown out as a cost savings measure similar to what Cerberus Capital did with Chrysler records in 2009? So much time has past ... who really knows for sure??

Does anyone even know if the historical records department was reopened? Remember that in 2009 Cerberus Capital closed the historical records department and the Chrysler Technical Center archives in a cost savings measure. A lot of really good stuff was once there but who really knows what exactly happened to it all ... other than it's now all gone.
Cheers!

I last spoke to the Chrysler Historical Department in 2009 before they closed. They told me they didn't have any records for our 1960's and 1970's muscle cars. They sent me a bunch of printed off sheets with the original dealership sales books and etc. but it was all stuff you'd find on Barry's Hamtramck Historical site.
