Colour Change Decision - Gone Wrong ?

The current owner told me it was likely painted white in the 80's by a person who is no longer with us. 

Back then the colour change might have helped it's resale value. Just because it was fresh paint. At least in the early 80's, few people gave a crap about originality
of the muscle cars and thought a six pak meant someone was bringing beers.
