Hi
I'm having trouble with the aftermarket plastic clips that are sewn into the boot.  They are not wide enough and won't flex enough to clip over the molding.  A friend of mine has a Legendary boot that does the same thing.
Are they all made by the same manufacturer?
It's been decades, but I ran across an engineer who designed and produced clips that worked great.
Unfortunately, lost his contact information...
Any recommendations or fixes would be appreciated
Thanks

I'm also interested to see in this topic. Years ago, I tried an aftermarket boot with the plastic clips and I ended up sending it back. I've recently ordered a Legendary boot to see if they have improved. If not, I have a bunch of the original style clips (new) with the steel spring on them. I could take the new boot with the old style clips to a shop and have them replaced. We'll see. Here's a few photos of the old style clips. The second photo shows  an original clip on the right and a repro clip on the left.

Around 30 years ago I thought I'd retire my original boot and replace it with a Legendary one.  The boot fit and clipped as intended, but the clip design was not like the originals.  But at least it worked.  It's sad to see they can't even keep up the quality and functionality of their own designs.

Hi
This is what I found out so far
PUI clips are made out of a harder non flexible, plastic and won't work at all on my 'Cuda.
I bought some from Herb's/AMS Obsolete that are very similar to my beloved older clips.
They do not look factory, but that's not a concern of mine.
Now the next issue it to find an upholster whose willing to talk to me-but that's another quest.

The clips on mine worked ok, and still "clip" but no longer pull the boot tight. So it looks kinda crappy. I've been thinking of just not using the boot and let the top, etc. show.  :dunno:

I think that if you have some original clips Legendary will make you a top with those clips sewn in if you send the clips to them ahead of time.

I ordered and received a Legendary top boot cover last week. The material is correct, but they use those all-plastic clips and they don't go over the trim around the well opening. What to do next. I'm disappointed for sure. I have the old style clips as I mentioned above. I may contact Legendary and see if they will make another boot using my clips.

That's too bad about the fit.  I just put my old Legendary back on last night after not using it for decades.  It still fit well, but a few clips were a struggle to get on.  Have you verified your original clips go on easier?  I've noticed a few spots on my car were tough, but it also looked like they were in a few of the curved spots on my trim.

I put a new Legendary cover on my car
This summer and it fits tight tight tight, have to put it in the sun for a few before the last clips work on the corner bends
