Obviously from the '70s custom car era when  things like this  were much more common.

IMO, it isn't bad for a custom approach. I  wouldn't do it myself,  but even Chrysler engineering toyed with variations on designed with  things like this.

Disappearing headlights...this is one thing I  think Chrysler totally missed the boat on. The Challenger SEs absolutely should have had  hidden headlights, just like the Chargers. But this also should have come with a more flush mount grill. This change would not look good on the deep set 70 grill, but does not look out of place on 71-74 flush mount versions.
