I wondered if all 1971 340 Challengers have the sport hood (J54) as standard equipment. It is clear for R/Ts (JS23H), but how about non R/Ts (JH23H/JH27H)? There are at least a few early cars and some cars used in movies that have the flat hood. The fender tags don't seem to show the code on early cars. Are they wearing the sport hood nonetheless?
Is there any documentation about the standard equipment of 1971 340 JH-cars published by Chrysler?

I'm not talking about N94 or N96 options here. Just flat vs. power bulge hoods.

A friend of mine owns the flat hood '71 Challenger 340 pilot car that was featured in MCG recently.  So at least one has a flat hood.
I thought all JH cars would have a flat hood standard, therefore any H or N code variant of those in  '71 would have a flat hood unless someone checked the box for a performance hood as an option.

I saw that car at the Nats last year.  Such a cool combo.

Agree the flat hood was standard on. JH cars, even with the performance engine option.

I know first hand since my 71 340 auto Challenger JH23 that I bought off the lot brand new in Sept 1971
had a flat hood.
I had it less than a month though, young and stupid....

Glad you made it out of that crash intact!
