I got passed by a new Charger on the way home from the store a little while ago. First time I've seen one in person. Man, I gotta say, that is a handsome machine. Don't think I'd ever buy one being electric, but if that had a Hellcat drivetrain...   Oh baby!  :ohyeah:

I've seen a few at dealers but still haven't spotted one on the road yet.

I wonder if it was designed to also be ICE? Or could be adapted, maybe it could happen  8)  With the current wave of anti-EV in the US and Stellantis getting back to business, who knows!

They were designed from the start to have both EV and ICE power.  The EV came out first but the Hurricane twin turbo 6 cylinder version is due soon.
But with the change of administration and in Stellantis, the hemi is coming back and supposedly a hemi version of the Charger is planned.

It is, it was co-designed to have the hurricane I6 in it. However, in the glorious wisdom of the prior CEO they decided to launch the EV version way before the ICE version which I think was a very stupid move. The i6 should be out by the end of summer. There are even rumors that they might stuff the Hemi back in it as well

I must be the black sheep - I saw one the other day and did not care for the styling at all - seemed all out of proportion to me, with a huge windshield, high roofline and uninspiring front fascia - maybe I need to take a second look......
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

I don't mind the body lines at all but the hood doesn't do it for me. If it's EVER, no! If its ICE, maybe.

Wait until you see the ICE hood. It has a huge bulge and does away with the unique/odd front nose splitter from photos I've seen.

There is one in my neighborhood, looks sleek in white.

Gentlemen.

The light at the end of the tunnel is a headlight and EV's are not only coming but there here to stay.

Look at the lineups from GM and Ford as well...more EV's than ICE.

Me personally ive test driven the new EV Charger and it goes like stink !!   Drive one and you will sing a different tune...remember..when rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it !!

Rape would be a great way to describe electric vehicles.
Nailed that one anyway.

I'm not sure I agree with you on the longevity of the EV phase, but I do agree with you that we are going to have to go through it. They are not as "green" as they are promoted to be. Several manufacturers are already going in different directions.
I need to hear an internal combustion engine for it to spark any passion in me. I agree with you on the quickness of all EV's. The nature of a DC motor is an extremely flat torque curve virtually 100% across the entire rpm range, but watch out when you need to haul that beast down or around a corner at 7000 lbs. I was never a fan of the 4 door Charger. It just did nothing for me. This one however, I think is a very good looking car. Very aggressive and muscle car ish. I think the styling is good, and with an ice and a manual trans, I could see myself driving one and having a lot of fun in it.  8)

I think the market is speaking when it comes to EV with fairly low demand. I doubt it will ever be more than a niche in the car market as they aren't that practical for most.  Advances might make them more practical over time, but there's a long way to go for that. Like getting to a point where a EV needs maybe a 4 or 5 minute recharge.
I have a close to 60 mile round trip commute to work, and an EV might be nice for that.  But my house only has 100 amp service.  From what I understand, I'd need to upgrade to 200 amp to get a level 2 Charger.  Otherwise I'd be stuck plugging my EV into a 120 outlet, and my understanding is that doing that overnight would give me around a 22 mile amount of charge.  Not enough for even half my commute.  Upgrading to 200 is not cheap.
Finding a commercial charger and spending 30-45 minutes plugged in there recharging weekly doesn't appeal to me either.  So hard pass on an EV for me, and I'm sure most feel similar.
If I could pull in, plug in, and be on my way 5 minutes later, I'd feel different.  I guess I'm spoiled after decades of refueling at gas stations!

I believe your misinformed.   A level 2 charger can be as low as 32 Amps and when plugged in overnight would give u a full charge in the morning and no need to upgrade your main.  That is the beauty of EV in that it can charge overnight when most electric companies charge less per KW than the daytime.

The Lucid Motors technology should be adopted by all EV makers. Quote taken from their website...

"This novel technology allows full compatibility with 500V and 1000V charging networks, offering Lucid Gravity customers maximum charging speed on whatever charger is most accessible. At peak charging rates, the Lucid Gravity sustains a robust charging curve, adding 200 miles in less than 12 minutes."

That's very close to the city driving mileage my Barracuda gets and about the same amount of time I spend at a pump getting as much fuel in there as I can (after leaving the gas station is when I start my cruise to burn off the overfill).
