For those of us with cold, gray winters what projects are you doing?

I am deep into my `70 road runner restoration just nearing the end of the metal work stage so have a long way to go on that but at some point this winter I need to make room in my two car garage for my Barracuda. Projects on the cuda include pulling the engine/trans (again, ugh!) to to in my rebuilt steering box and fix a stripped thread in my bellhousing. I also need to pull the heads on the 340 and send them to the machine shop as I think they are getting "tired" as I`m getting a high rpm miss and I`ve eliminated the basic causes. I bought an AAR hood earlier this year and will get that mounted and painted along with new stripes, I also want to add a front spoiler. I have a whole list of other stuff I need or want to do but I`ll be lucky to get my short list done due to time and money contstraints. How many days till Carlilse?  :veryexcited:

cuda hunter

Ugh,
Just installed a flywheel in my 99 jeep limited. (hunting)
Installed sway arm bushings in my 98 jeep sport. (lady)
Installing new rear springs and shocks in the 98 jeep sport. (lady)
Installing a new radio in the 99 jeep limited. (hunting)

I need to oil change both my harleys and actually need to stabil the gas.
Last ride was 2 weeks ago before the big snow here.
Gonna change a license plate on my fatboy harley this winter to R3B3L .  We'll see if the state will accept that.  It's a starwars droid reference.??  maybe.

I need to change some jets on the proform on the cuda.

If'n I get a small pad poured behind my house I might be able to jockey some bikes, roll over the cuda and get my 71 new port in the garage for a head gasket change.

All this while I have a full on bathroom remodel in my home.

I don't get out of the weather though.  I'm currently building a 6000 sq.ft. home at 9200 foot elevation on a North facing slope.  It doesn't get above freezing Nov through April.  9' of snow and a triple switchback driveway.  This is a clients house, not mine.

AND,  hopefully this week I can go down to my little hunting property and put some salvaged roof metal onto my shed there so I can get closer to having a warm hut to sleep in while I am on hunting trips.

Oh yeah, I picked up a beater 73 imperial that needs just a little love.

There is never enough time.

I used to always say - "never enough time or money" but age has caught up with me and now I have to add "or energy/ambition".

Going to put 2 sizes smaller primary jets in my Holley. Exhaust tips and valance have too much black on them. And replace tail and side lights with LEDs. Pretty simple to do. But every time I think that, something always comes up. :(

I have a new heater/ac control to go into the Challenger and it needs a polish and wax. The Charger also needs polish and wax.
The Power Wagon will get a refurbished heater control bezel, the current one is cracked. It will also get some windshield washer plumbing and the heater control valve replaced. And I'll pull the "Custom " emblem off the dash and see if I can repaint the silver outline.
I need to rotate the tires on the 12 Challenger.

brakes.  i'm rebuilding the brake system on an e-body that has not been on the road for decades.  the pedal goes to the floor, and the asbestos dust  is thick. the garage is heated, but i live in california, where we whine when the temperature drops below 60*. so i'm not too spoiled.

Doing metal work in the engine bay of the Challenger. I've got rust in the hinge and cowl drain that need cut out and replaced. That will then turn into prep for paint with welding up misc holes, removing components and sanding.

Oddly enough ever since the cold weather has hit I am feeling the bug to get out and work on my car.

My main goal over the winter is to make sue the Hydroboost brakes are working properly.  I have not been very happy with them since I installed them.

I am going to pull the MC off and check that the HB pushrod is the right length (got a new tool to do that).  Adjust if necessary.

Bench bleed the MC again just to make sure.

Then pressure bleed the whole system again.

I am also going to lengthen the pushrod to the pedal a bit and see if that helps.

Other than that, maybe just so other small things.

but without any Mopars - not a good trade off IMO even with how much I hate the cold!

Completely gutting and remodeling my daughter's bathroom. My wife and I figured a couple weeks. It's now been 6 weeks since I've had some shop time and worked on my 70. The bathroom is just now ready for me to mud and tape tomorrow.

Well, I think I'll clean up the insides of the ash tray...been grungy in there for a long time.
Then maybe re-pack the front bearings.
I picked up some wheel turning plates so I need to screw around with learning to do my own alignments along with the longacre digital gauge.
There is the new bathroom shower to install...but that doesn't seem like much fun....

While I should do more to document the project on the board here, I have a crate 392 going into my 72 Challenger.  I've been studying the swap for years and about a year back began buying parts.  The engine was the most recent big piece.  Lets hope all my notes and pictures collected make things go smooth.  I am working out of a small two car garage in the Chicago area.  Not alot of room but, Ive done bigger projects in smaller spaces.  Should be fun!  Hope to be driving by spring/early summer.

I'm hoping you have time to post progress.  Modern swaps are interesting topics (IMO)

September I installed the new fuel tank and rebuild pickup and sender. I added a grounding wire to the sending unit so I didn't have to expose any metal for a body ground. With the tank, I installed the fuel vent and new shield.  Still have to make the shield over the hoses between the frame and tank.
October I got the rebuilt 8 3/4 Rear Axle reinstalled with new suspension part.  Dipped and epoxy coated the original license plate frame.  That's now installed. I got the rear lamps all redone with new gaskets and are now installed.  The trunk key now matches the glovebox and center console locks.  Along with the rear lamps came the side markers.  I need to order new bulb sockets for the rear side markers.  As you may have noticed I have 71 quarters and a 72 tail panel.  Long story to that but since I'm rebuilding this as part Gran Coupe, I'm mad at myself for using the 72.  Turns out, this panel has a concave design and I can't put the GC lock on it.  At least not yet.  I'm going to try and figure something out.  That was one of the coolest parts of my old GC.  I'm currently working on the wiring.  To my surprise back in '79, I stripped the harnesses from my '71 along with a lot of other stuff (it was T-boned).  I had a box of harnesses and thought it was from my 72.  I've been researching the last few days on what I need to do to either use it, or build a new one using parts and pieces or just buy "new".  The only thing is, I have not found a "new" GC version and I think some items may be missing.  I also prefer relays for high current devices and not put power through switches.  Rear window defogger information is a bit sparse too but I'll rig up something special to get it back 100%.  Once the wiring's done I'll start the interior.  Under all that crap on the top of the car a new headliner from SE.  I propped up my newly recovered consollette and I got a new lamp cover for that a couple years ago.  I'll redo this with LED's so as to not melt the cover this time.  Carpeting and rebuild the door mechanisms  hopefully over the winter.  I'd really like to hear that 383 again this summer.  The last time I heard the lovely sound of that engine was 1985.  It still turns over by hand.  I got the body back from paint in the winter of last year.
