This is on a '71 Challenger I looked at today.... has anyone seen anything like this before? Is it a seam sealer? It is right at the edge of one front fender..... right side only.

Yea they all had a sealer along that seam from the factory....maybe not THAT much, but they had it

The factory applied seam sealer that I have seen is smooth and not granular looking like in this picture.  The sealer was applied prior to paint so it should be the same color as the fender. The sealer in the picture doesn't look like it was factory applied.  :alan2cents:

I've seen this on several cars but always painted over and never that much... looks like someone got carried away with the goo gun.

Hardtop car. It does look like some sort of seam sealer. No idea why there would be so much of it.
It is definitely more gritty than the seam sealer on the other fender and on other cars. I'm really wondering if it is possibly factory done? Or some sort of home repair?
It was sprayed orange when the body was repainted a number of years ago
