He still can't go in to check on stuff. His NSX, SRT4 and his 68 Charger are at other locations fortunately. Greg is probably the most resilient person I know and in spite of what he was going through he had me rolling on the floor laughing when I was talking to him yesterday.

I'm I  kamloops. I did some fire fighting put in kelowna in the big 2003 fires. It's a terrible thing to see when someone's life goes up in flames.

Cody we had some of the worst flooding we have had in the last 100 years in this area this spring. One town got partially evacuated due to floors this spring and now has a 43000 hectar fire that burnt over 60 houses.

Any updates on this Sheldon ? Watching the news down here seems things aren't getting much better ?

His car is okay Alan. Houses next to their property were lost. It's as close as it could have been.

We have had lots of fires close to our place and it got me thinking. I lent put my car trailer to my dad as he is in the fore zone. One started 2km from his place but was tackled quickly.  My cuda doesn't drive so it would be stick where it is and I would hope for the best. My wife is pushing to have a plan for the car as well. I should really throw in the steering column so I can atleast steer it out if need be. Lucky no fires are knocking on our door yet.

RUNCHARGER

Yes: We had to get out fast (like within about 30 minutes). This is about the way my car sat and there was nothing I could do but hope for the best. The house was insured but I think I had about $65k tied up in the car at that point. I couldn't insure it in any form at that time without an out of province safety. My buddy called me to see if I wanted him to bring in his tow truck but the cops couldn't let him in at that point. I drove my 66 to the yard and watched the smoke. I would have had one car left anyway I figured.

What I always thought was interesting home insurance covers your home and personal property, but not your car in the garage.  So even if your car is in pieces you need to have some kind of auto insurance on it or risk losing everything.

Which I did , my car was in pieces  the body was stripped down & at a friends place to repair some minor rust & get it into primer & some kids started his propane powered truck on fire that was parked across in front of the door blocking it , of course I had no insurance on it as it was a project & the whole garage including 3 cars , the truck outside & all the parts inside were destroyed & it took down the green house behind the garage & damaged the house as well .
No big loss as it was "only" my 70 R/T SE 440 track pack disc brake Charger  :Thud:

RUNCHARGER

Yes: We have to buy our insurance through the govt owned insurance company and their policy would not allow you to register the car in your name until it had completed a safety inspection. They would not insure it unless it was registered to you so it was impossible to insure a project car from an area outside of our province. This year they have changed that practice but it was unfair for many decades.
