Is this a partial VIN?

1970 cuda Joe

While fixing the brake system on my 70 'cuda I saw these numbers near the pan between the starter & the flywheel cover. They are on the surface area of the pan rail. I know the block is a 1968 440 (D440) is on the top pad. On that lower area It reads PT440P25122044. Thank you, Joe

That is the engine serial number from the engine assembly plant.

PT = Trenton engine plant

In 68 I believe they first stamped the VIN along the back of the engine by the oil pressure sending unit, then at some point they moved it to the passenger-side rail above the oil pan.

Ok. I'll look by the oil sender. It wasn't on the pad by the pan rail. I know it's not my engine...but...you never know, somebody might be looking for their's....Joe

a 1968 non-HP engine will not have a VIN stamping
