at Carlisle I got hooked up with 821 invoices (1970-'73) from a small "blue collar" steel town dealership outside Pittsburgh, PA - population 1970: ~15,000

1973
249 invoices
94 a-bodies
54 b-bodies
95 c-bodies
  6 e-bodies

body styles:
21 (2-door coupe) = 6 (5 of them are 318 Road Runners)
23 (2-door hardtop) = 81
29 (2-door coupe) = 39 (ALL Dusters)
41 (4-door sedan) = 84
43 (4-door hardtop) = 20
45 (2-seat station wagon) = 4
46 (3-seat station wagon) = 15

most common colors:
JY9 "Tahitian gold metallic" = 43

JY3 "honey gold" = 25
JA5 "silver frost metallic" = 22

interesting "trivia": ZERO (0) 4-speed vehicles, ZERO (0) 340 Dusters, ZERO (0) 340/400/440 Road Runners, ONE (1) Imperial, ONE (1) Fury I, ONE (1) Fury II, ONE (1) 'cuda  :('

:banana: the e-bodies:
5 - Barracudas w/318 & automatic:
*  red FE5 / white interior / deluxe wheel covers & whitewalls
*  silver JA5 / black interior / deluxe wheel covers & whitewalls
*  silver JA5 / black interior / ROAD wheels & whitewalls
*  black TX9 / white interior / RALLYE wheels & whitewalls

I lived in Pgh at that time, curious what the dealership name was . Trying to remember names but drawing a blank.

@6bblgt so you now have these invoices in your possession? And how much data does an invoice have on it?  VINs perhaps? This sounds like a mother lode of historical info.

the dealership is ~50 miles outside Pittsburgh in the "rust-belt" - I borrowed the documents to "data-mine" & will be returning them shortly

I will inquire on the amount of info the owner would like to be shared/posted on-line - an INVOICE has similar info to a window sticker  :takealook:

yes, the 'cuda is the "prize" of the bunch - the only 1973 "performance" car on the lot: black / black int. / 340 / 3.55s / console / dual mirrors / AM-FM / ROAD wheels  :wowzers:

1973 engine breakdown:
75 - 225 1bbl /6
79 - 318 2bbl V8
1 - 340 4bbl V8
22 - 360 2bbl V8
56 - 400 2bbl V8
16 - 440 4bbl V8
249 total

this is just a small piece of the big picture - but it is an indication of just how fast the musclecar era died (and how popular the Greens & Golds were in '73)

What a treasure trove. And it found its way to good hands.

& again, the lone 340 'cuda in "tor-red" with black stripes & performance hood paint is the pick of the litter 8) but there definitely wasn't enough to go around  :crying:

OH man!  a 72 V21 car!   In EV2 none the less.

If only it had a sunroof and if only I owned it.  Cool car!!

Thanks for all the info Dan!

Interesting info and I bet really typical. It also shows how many "normal" Mopars have been crushed over the years. Most of the cars that have survived have been Road Runners and Cudas, most of the "lesser' models have not been saved.

I've been trying to find a 69,70,71 Fury, Imperial, new yorker or polara and those cars are very hard to find in decent condition.
yet those are the cars that were sold the most aside from Dusters.  Even Dusters are getting hard to find.  They used to be a dime a dozen.  Not now.
