POR 15

I don't know, ask me in a few years. LOL. I used it in a few places. Like others, I don't like the idea of just painting over rust. I removed the rust mechanically in most places. I used it as a barrier in a few places. I used it primarily as a barrier protector on the roof and window channels, on the body behind the front fenders, and down in the cowl vent area where I couldn't reach with a sander/dremel. There were a few other small areas as well. It wasn't used on any body panels under paint. The roof is a vinyl which rotted through the roof, hence why I decided to por 15 under the vinyl. I also used their top coat rather than a paint.

It is nasty stuff. I get it everywhere. I tried gloves but that only helped a little. LOL. Just don't scratch your nose or rub your eyes. :drunk:

It has only been between a year - two depending on the location, but it is holding up. Hopefully it won't peel or otherwise fail.

The acid wash I mentioned above is their Metal Ready product which is mostly phosphoric acid with rust converter. You definitely do not just paint over the  rust without the removal steps unless you are working on a beater and just want to slow it down.

I have also used it on my beater in the wheel arch. It wont stop the rust creep unless you can hit both sides of the metal.

I was considering using POR 15 as I am replacing the passenger quarter on my challenger, and thought I'd brush it on the inside areas where the rear window sits, and the outside of the wheel well where paint doesn't get to when you spray inside the trunk.
I'm reconsidering it after reading this thread; what are you guys using inside hidden areas when they are open?

I did a frame off on my 67 Corvette in 2004, and put it on the frame. I blasted the frame prior to coating, and it still looks good.
