Washer reservoir cleanup

I swear I saw a article here once about this but can't seem to search it out.     I want to clean up my washer reservoir and am wondering what does a good job without damaging the "plastic" tank.  It has the usual grime and rust stains you would expect in and outside a near 50 year old tank.

If it's Rust stains, I would try Evapo Rust.

It's pretty strong on removing Rust and not hurting plastics.

Shake it around every once inn a while.

@Topcat thanks; I have some of that and will try it first.    Maybe bleach afterwards to get the "yellowing" out?

I've read in the past that boiling yellowed plastic can bring back the white look.  It probably only works with certain plastic.  I think the post I read dealt with domb light covers.  It's worth a shot boiling the washer tank.  They do make reproductions.
