I finally got the Challenger out of the barn and took it for a drive, but I found that I had some stuttering around 45-50mph which has me trying to figure out what is going on.

The stuttering feels like a lack of fuel because it only happens when I get on it and but it eventually recovers and is fine.

On a cold start it takes a while to start as the carb is dry and the fuel needs to make it's way to the engine.  I am going to investigate further, but it may require a fuel pump swamp.

could be the fuel pump pushrod worn down too
I would start with the float level as the carb should hold enough fuel to run for a while before leaning out the fuel supply

check your accelerator pump

Chrycho - I agree , that is exactly where I was planning on starting.

Morty - I had not given that a thought as it ran fine last year and did not do this at all.  The fuel situation on cold start has been an issue for a while.

When it happened about 5 minutes old (I had just filled the tank).  Prior gas that was in it was put in just a few months prior.

Maybe throw in a new fuel filter too.

Any progress?

Not yet, I need to get it at, but I have been busy at work and will get at it this weekend.
