Where did you find the very first E-Body you ever owned?  Online forum, ebay, newspaper, auto trader, or maybe word of mouth?  And do you still have it?

Friend/neighbour had it and gave it to me for helping him work on his other E Body :toast:

First one was in an Auto Trader (mid-late 80's), second( current)  was E-bay (2007). I still ( I think) have the old autotrader packed away somewhere in the basement.

Showed a friend a 71 cuda in a magazine, told him that was my dream car. He said I know where one of those is! Rode over and got the guys number and called him about it he said it wasn't for sale this was in 94 or 95. Early 1999 my dad was hunting a car to buy for me as a present and I remembered it he rode over and the guys boat motor just tore up and he need money to fix it. 600 bucks later it was on our trailer.

I was 18 years old and looking for a car.
Stopped by a small town mechanic shop in the middle of nowhere because there was a bunch of older cars out back.
Turns out he was about to move his shop to a different location and didn't have room to take any of those old cars with him.
Picked up a 70 Challenger for $500.

Yep, I still have it.

Found my '70 in '71 from a weekly publication called Trading Times. Guess you could call it the printed Craigslist of the day. It was high impact yellow with a brown interior. Got a 318 because my Dad didn't want me in a 383. Insurance for a single under 25 year old male in a muscle car in the early 70s was expensive. I was in flight school for my instrument and CFI ratings in Opa Locka, Florida during the gas rationing days in 1973. Could only buy gas on an even or odd date depending on your license plate being either even or odd.

Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore.  I retired and bought my 383 R/T.

Since you said find and not buy I will add the first one I ran across. A buddy of mine was buying an Aspen wagon to do enduro racing and the car was in a storage lot. Not too far away sat a purple 1970 Challenger and we kind of looked it over, wrote down the vin and were going to check the numbers in one of the white books when we got back home. We check and it's a hemi car. Since it was 1991 we were able to get the info of the owner and talk to him on the phone. He bought the car in high school around 1976, got a job at the post office, started life and the car sat. He was not interested in selling it and was going to fix it up someday. The car was gone within 6 months from the storage yard, don't know what became of it.

mine was passed down from my step dad a couple years ago. he bought it in '73. I first rode in it @ '81 and I still remember that first trip, but only because I was a sensitive little guy and when we were close to the property he hit a bird and it made me cry  :'( , lol. he drove it until '87 and parked it (just wanted to drive something else) where it sat until I brought it home. took me 25 years to convince him I wanted it for the love of the body, not to fix and flip.
Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I put a post on a farm talk forum that I was looking for a Cuda. A guy from Wisconsin replied with a picture of his Challenger. It was love at first site. :inlove: That was five years ago and yes I still have it.

Found mine back in 82 at a local dealership...Problem was my buddy was with me and he was a spoiled brat..  .. and has his mom write the check within hours..  He bought it and proceeded  to lose his drivers license every few months the next 4 years until his mom ordered him to sell the cuda...I worked on that car the whole time and drove it when his license was yanked so I ended up buying the car in 1986...And yes I still have it... Many have come and gone since then...Heck I used to buy, strip and junk cudas that would have been considered very collectable/restorable by today's standards but they were just cheap cars back then...But I could'nt bring myself to sell my first cuda...Now I'm glad I did'nt...

Found my first 1970 FC7 340 Challenger in front of a house with a For Sale sign on it. Turns out all I had to do was pay off his bank note...$783 back in 1974.

My first Challenger was a 1970 Lime Green, white interior, white stripes Six-Pack car. It was an auto car with dual mirrors and a AM-FM radio. It was a blast to drive and would pull away from most of the brand "X" cars out there. Seen it on the way to work, I was a green electrical apprentice at the time. Called them up and talked with the salesman for a bit, told him I would pay like $1900 for it, he said sure, but got a quick call back from the dealer, said his boss is stuck at $2100, and the deal was closed. I was so thrilled at the aspect of buying it, probably the only car I did not look at before buying or even driving it. The hard part was the $120 car payment and the $100/month insurance fee. I was a young punk and the car had too much HP for low rates. Car had only 20k on the clock. The fuel crisis came along 3 years later and the 3 tank a day Challenger went down the road. Sure wished I would have kept the old girl.

MIne was approx 3 blocks away on a side street , passed it drooling regularly  :drooling:, 1 day there was a for sale sign in the window , I parked the truck in the middle of the street ran to the door gave him what I had & made him promise me it was sold to me only , went to get the rest of the $$ & drove it home , kept it 2 years drove it everywhere in the summer & was offered 3x what I paid for it & let it go  :headbang:
As it drove away it broke my  heart & I immediatly looked for a replacement as the car was worth much more than $$$ .
It was a V2 originally but white when I bought it , JS23U0B pistol grip .
I have been offered stupid $$ for the replacement but never forgot the feeling seeing the fisrt one drive away so it has never sold  :woohoo:
