I remove mine as well.
They are not relayed like everything is nowadays.
Higher draw items such as headlights have constant power to their switches.
Ignition switches also. 50yo switches that are used every time.

I wouldn't put a trickle charger on it. Disconnecting the battery Is the best way to go. Years back before I disconnected the battery, I went to start it one day and found a portion of the engine wiring harness completely melted. It happened during the night while we slept and the car was garaged. We were lucky it didn't start a car fire and burn our house down.

Don't worry about the battery draining if it's not left on a charger. I have a car I rarely drive and it sits for months at a time. I've never had trouble with the battery losing power. This assumes the cars charging system is in good health and keeps the battery charged when it's driving around town.

Hmmm. Guess I'll start doing that too. Haven't had an issue yet, but....it makes sense.
I'm not gonna like setting the clock every fricken time I go for a cruise...

I'm right there with you....I never have a car in my garage with the battery connected over night...especially when it's a fresh restoration, and you never know what could go wrong.

Maybe in addition to the spare set of tires, a trailer hitch? You know, for the bowser gas trailer you'll need to go farther than 100 miles. LOL! I had a set of 3:91s in a Valiant and it would pass anything but a gas station! Check the tach when you're cruising at 60mph. One more vote for a fire extinguisher and, no joke, a small gas can for those "times".

I don't have a tach so it shouldn't be a concern right? Extinguisher has been ordered.

After all the responses, I guess I will invest in a battery terminal disconnect to put on the grounded terminal as well.

Got a battery disconnect knob installed and found a good spot in the trunk using existing holes that lined up perfectly with the fire extinguisher mount. Had some spare screws and nuts that fit but didn't interfere with the trunk lid and hinge at all. Thanks again for the advice all!

I got one of these and put it in the glove compartment or center console of whichever classic I'm driving. Saw it on a post in here and all the reviews showed it to be far superior to traditional larger units. Easy to carry around and not messy if you did use it.

Pull cable at 2 pm, hook it back up at 2pm.     Get a digital timing light. So you can accurately set the timing.

Some people keep it on the floor behind the driver's seat. A lot quicker to grab than having to open the trunk.

Some people keep it on the floor behind the driver's seat. A lot quicker to grab than having to open the trunk.

Hard to bring myself to drill anything inside. The holes in the trunk hinge were pre-existing, but yeah definitely closer inside the car
