The ad says it has a salvage title, might have been rear ended.
Maybe it was repaired by splicing the rear half of a vinyl top car with the front half of a non vinyl top car?

Looks like a good, solid car and it's so hard finding one that still has its slant six. The add on vinyl top and aftermarket body side moldings are no big issue. I love these humble examples of e bodies. My first was a bare bones 225 car and I sure wish it was still with me.
