My question is,   was the fender tag a reproduction?

Looks fake to me.

Maybe the original one was rusted away. Doesn't look like they tried to do anything crazy with it. Maybe it was converted to a convertible?

Looks fake to me.

I don't think that the J81 Go-Wing was available with that early an SPD but I could be mistaken.

However, if the car is legitimately an A62 rallye dash, where is the J25 code for 3 speed wipers and the N85 code for the tach?

Even without the rallye dash, the A04 basic group should have the J25 callout.

Were the dual scoop hood and hood pins available on a Barracuda that early as well?

Etc.

So IMHO the tag is not legit, though it begs the question of why mess with the tag for a 318 car

I agree with what you have listed.
Why mess with a 318 tag?  They put 100K into the car so what is a few hundred bucks to make the tag "appear" correct to the car.

The rear spoiler, J81 , nope.  Can't say I have ever seen a BH with that code.  If someone has a tag with that code on a BH please post it for my records.

Good looking car for a replica.  Looks awesome!  I think being a replica the tag should have been left as it was.

I mean, this could be an M46 car.  Then I would be asking a bank about a loan..?  This guy just lost my money because he changed the tag to have j81 instead of M46.
Always looking for M46's on BH cars, everywhere.

Quite a few red flags on that tag.
