The install manual for the gauges states:

"When selecting a mounting location, avoid placing the control module next to or just opposite of the firewall from ignition components, ie: Ignition coil, HEI, etc. Ignition components can emit tremendous amounts of electrical noise, affecting the operation of electrical components which can cause erratic operation. Avoid mounting the control box where it may get wet."

I'll be installing a rally version on my 70 Challenger while my dash is out.  What opinions are out there for the best mounting location for the control box?

Thanks in advance!

Marty

I Velcroed mine to the bottom of the radio.

I like to Velcro the module to the dash frame on the driver's side of the ash tray assembly. I know I'm not describing this well, but if you remove the ash tray assembly from the dash, there's a cavity to the driver's side of the assembly that has a flat area perpendicular to the dash front that's just the right size. The module and wiring doesn't interfere with anything and the module is easily accessible by removing the ashtray assembly. I've done two of these installations and so far no issues with that location.

Put mine above glove box Velcro to underside of dash frame. Just left the liner out until all the quirks were worked out, but removing the box liner is not a big deal anyways. I like it out of site and once everything is up and running you don't need access to the box.

i did the same above the glove box..  while everything was apart i spot welded two short hangers from the dash frame and solid secured it to the hangers. undo the 6 small screws for the upper half of the glove box cardboard case and there it is. added 6-8 inches of extra wiring to it and i can remove it and work on it outside of the glove box
