Hi, Has anyone installed the Dakota Digital STANDARD gauge set (VHX-70D-Standard)? Curious how complex the intall is, any mods necessary, pics of how it looks? Thanks!

golly, if you're going to the trouble to install a digital dash, why not go rallye with the extra gauges?  My car is a standard dash car, and if I needed another (standard) I would buy an OEM over a new digital... unless, I wanted them better gauges in the rallye.  then, it wouldn't matter it is not original. if you gotta modernize, I vote rallye dash.

Thanks for the reply. I actually like the standard dash as much as the rally, and question whether the difference is worth an additional $700? I've been experimenting with OEM and aftermarket individual gauges and not really satsisfied with either.

I prefer the Dakota standard gauges as well and have completed an install of the 70D-VHX gauges on my 74 Cuda about two years ago. Besides, once you have installed the Dakota gauges you will have everything available on the Ralley gauges and more. Installation is pretty straight forward if you follow the literature provided. You will need access to your car's electrical schematics diagrams to locate the various circuits and best locations to tap into the circuitry. I was fortunate enough to be doing a restoration so my dash frame was out of the car and this made it much easier to install the wiring and test my connections.
If you have any questions, send me a pm. Here are some pics..... you will love the backlighting!

Thanks for the reply and pics! That's encouraging and I'm leaning that way.

Did go with the DD standard gauge set. Fairly easy install. I'm still working on a few details, like best mounting place for the bus box, but overall happy with it. A nice feature is daytime driving lights on the dash, makes the instruments much more readable in daytime driving. It wasn't cheap but it beats the alternatives. Redline Gauge gave the best price and quick service. Wish I'd done this in the first place instead of messing around with other gauges.
