My car came with a Mallory Unilite Distributer and Coil. The coil is a good size brick. I was planning on reusing it but I couldn't attach the new wires as newer ones are much thicker. If you don't know, you have to push the wire down into a hole onto a spike, then a little piece clamps it in.

Just curious if people have a hack for this (whittle away some of the wire silicon (or whatever it is), use a thinner wire, or forget it and use a newer more modern coil? Seems like waste to not use a good coil. :dunno:

IIRC, there is a rubber gasket, getting a slightly bigger wire shouldn't be a big deal, but the plastic retainer would need to be drilled out a bit oversize to fit the larger wire.

These were made back when 7mm wires were the norm.

Thanks, I didn't think about drilling it a bit. I can't remember if there is an o ring, but I will check. Thanks for the tip.
