I've finished wiring up the new radio, it has power when I turn it on, but no channels or speaker noise whatsoever. Also, strange thing is, when the radio is in the OFF position, the gauge cluster lights, console gear light, etc aren't ON. But when I turn the radio ON, the cluster light and console gear light also turn ON. Any ideas? The only wire not connected on the back of the radio is the green lead (dial lights I believe).

Thanks,

Peter

the plug in your picture has red for power & orange for the dash lights , green typically was feed to the speaker , for battery power to keep the clock memory you need to connect to a tri plug or the bottom of the fuse block

So should I cut the red line and re-direct to the "BATT" connector on the bulkhead? Or should it be the "ACC" connector (believe the previous radio had a line to ACC). Any ideas on why the other dash lights won't work if the radio isn't on?

Looking at the second picture, radio schematic, the Orange wire says it is power OUT..
Bet you have connected that to the Orange wiring instrument lights of the car... If so disconnect that.. Green appears to be the radio's lights
I can't see why that would impact radio operation... Be sure radio source is selected, these multi-function units can be confusing with the way the controls are. I would also add a solid external ground from the radio's case to Metal dash frame.

Thanks for the help! So, do I even need to run the radio to the connector under the dash? It sounds like I should cut the orange wire, and then maybe run the red 12V power line directly to the "BATT" connector on the bulkhead? There's also a black lead coming out along with the red lead from the dash side connector, is this just a ground? I've also grounded the radio body via the back side bracket support.

the new radio should have 2 power connections usually red & yellow , yellow would be constant power for the memory / clock usually & red would be switched power so the red can be connected to the switched power at the factory plug , the l=yellow should have battery power from one of the tri plugs or the fuse block . Disconnect the radio from the orange circuit in the car as that has nothing to do with the radio & is for dash lighting .

Bullitt-

I can't imagine the Red wire should require constant power but I'm perplexed that there doesn't seem to be a wire for constant power (usually yellow). I suppose they could have provided an internal battery to maintain the program when ignition is off..??
I'm not familiar with a Black wire on the car's power plug... There is a black wire on the car's  front speaker plug along with green.
Your new radio shows Black as ground which should be direct to the Metal frame

Ultimately you may be better off calling the supplier for technical assistance

Ok, so gave AAR a call, basically the internals keep the memory stored, so no need for a constant 12V power to the "BATT" connection on the bulkhead. All you need is the red 12V power lead, the orange is only for accessories, like a powered antenna, etc, so I disconnected that for now.

Thanks for all of the help!

Just in case..... Is your antenna installed ?  It can be plugged in, but the antenna itself must be in place.

Yep the antenna is installed, and plugged in inside the fender as well. Anyone have luck with digital under day antennas? still having issues getting any channels to come in. I know the speakers are working at least as in Bluetooth mode I can stream from my phone
