Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

If you have a one speaker dash yes, three speaker no...

Thanks.  My car originally had the A/M 8 track.  There's a hole in the lower dash where it looks like where the fader would have been.  Someone in the course of the car's life swapped out the A/M 8 track for an AM/FM and installed their own speakers in the doors/rear.  I would like to put it back to original.

Is that a good price for it?  I've never had to search for one before.

What is not shown clearly in the pictures is the condition of the knob. That is the hardest piece to find in a rear speaker setup. Why? Because the knob did not pull straight off of the shaft. Many were mangled or broken because there was a bayonet clip that locked onto the shaft. The harder pulled to remove, the harder the clip was trying to keep it on! It only took a small flat blade screw driver to press the clip in towards the knob and it would come right off.

If I were you, I would ask the seller to show you a picture of the back of the knob. If the D bayonet clip is missing or the knob has been chewed up by a pair of pliers or wrench, I would pass. If the knob is in nice shape, I would say go for it.

Be careful. Don't get caught drinking the Kool-Aid or believing the hype.

Be patient and keep watching for the correct one and no damage. They do pop up every so often and many times with a better looking switch and the correct wires.  :ohyeah:

I will look around, I'm pretty sure I have one still mounted to the dash piece, but no wiring.  Sometimes things are hard to find in my pile of crap I call parts.  One day I will try to get organized like CudaCody!    One day . . . .  :dunno:
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

It was easier to just become accustomed to the chaos.   :alan2cents:

There were 2 kinds:
Front 3 speaker and front and rear speaker 5 speaker systems.

The five speaker dash switch and wire harness are unique.
5 speaker is a double Pot switch

5 speaker has a plastic multi point connection housing.
Hard to find.

What about AM with the rear speaker option?

What about AM with the rear speaker option?

Wasn't an option. Only if you had AM/FM

for clarity:

AM w/rear speaker = 1 front & 1 rear

AM/FM or AM/8-track STEREO w/rear speakers = 3 front & 2 rear

That is not correct.  You could with an AM radio.  I had one, and even that link you posted says it was available.  1 speaker in front and 1 back on the driver's side.

Yep, that's what my Challenger has.  Single front speaker with single rear speaker.
