voltage limiter capacitor

I bought a replacement voltage limiter. It only has 2 terminals, not 3. I am assuming that the new one is electronic and does not need the external capacitor. Please confirm that I am OK to not have the cap connected to the new one since there is no place to connect it. Or, do I need to modify the witing connection to allow for the cap to connect.
