70 Challenger,
Replacing the main harness and see what I assume is a relay on dash frame by glovebox.
It was not connected, not needed?

Is there a part number on it, If so what is it?   :alan2cents:

Don't see a PN, here's a better pic
3 terminals, built in bracket to mount to dash frame,
Seems like it belongs there

Thx for the replies!

So is this actually a buzzer?
Are all steering columns set-up to trigger the buzzer?
In theory, if I connect the wiring, it should buzz when the key is in the cylinder?

Jay Bee

It's a buzzer

All columns have them. There's a switch inside the column which is activated by a lever on the ignition switch (which breaks sometimes). It's the two outside red wires on the ignition switch connector.

PS: part number should be on the bracket

Buzzer switch and ignition switch w/broken lever

Awesome, thx!

1 more question, since I'm on a roll   :)

Was this an option, add the buzzer and charge $5?
Or standard on all cars?

Jay Bee

AFAIK it's standard, not an option. My options pages(FD-DD) don't show it and it appears on the regular wiring diagrams as opposed to the accessory wiring diagram.

"Key in buzzer" on the 70 is mounted to side of the glove box dash frame and the part number on the mounting bracket is 2983696.  It looks exactly the same as a road lamp relay except it's a little taller, the road lamp relay part number is 2889916.
